The Royal Sussex Country Club… where membership is exclusive, to those with status. Each year, the Moms of Royal Sussex throw a grand party in which they present their daughters to society… a debutante ball. There’s dancing, glitter, glamor & wondrous food. Food that will make your eyes jump 3 feet in the air and hover above the table while your body lazily sways back and forth. And if you think the appetizers and entrees are something, you should see the dessert table. At grand party like this, you’d expect desserts stacked to the ceiling, but there’s only 1 item… small delicate sandwich cookies known by all simply as… “Debutantes.”

There’s a lot of do’s and don’ts when it comes to “cookie eating” at the ball. For instance, it’s only proper to put 3 cookies on your plate at a time… and you just can’t go eating the whole cookie in one bite, only nibbling. Veterans of the ball choose to extend their pinky while eating their cookie (sort of like sipping a cup of tea) however the new attendees prefer the ol' thumb and forefinger method.
